About The Position

The Business Development Director (BDD) will represent Inotiv's Discovery & Translational Sciences contract research service portfolio which includes in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, DMPK, investigative toxicology, contract histopathology and biomarker platforms. The BDD is responsible for meeting their territory sales goal by developing, directing, and executing a geographic territory-based field sales strategy. The BDD territory plan includes activities such as meeting current clients to build strong commercial relationships and customer loyalty, while assessing opportunities to expand our business with the client. Activities include identifying and developing new prospective clients through targeted prospecting activities including attendance at industry meetings and face-to-face meetings at client locations. The BDD also works closely with Inotiv's scientific/SMEs and professional staff leveraging their expertise to ensure Inotiv is the preferred partner for the services offered and in the best position to exceed client expectations while developing the business relationship. The salary range for this role begins at $150,000 and can adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level. This position is eligible to earn commissions. Location: Remote based out of New England region, preferably Boston Travel: ~25% depending on geographic location

Requirements

  • BS/BA/MS degree in related science or business subject.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience will be considered.
  • Field sales experience in the CRO industry or related sector is preferred.
  • Highly developed communication skills (written & verbal). Listening and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with good organizational skills
  • High degree of self-motivation and professionalism.
  • A team-oriented approach with strong desire to learn,
  • Utilize consultative selling skills; From identifying opportunities through closing new business
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve issues in a creative and positive manner and effectively maneuver through complex situations - internal and external
  • Capability to multi-task and at times to instill a productive sense of urgency
  • Understanding of the drug discovery and development process including efficacy screening, DMPK, preclinical, bioanalytical, clinical phase.
  • Experience with a CRM such as SalesForce or Hubspot.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a successful territory plan to reach strategic goals
  • Develop and qualify leads that are provided through company-led marketing efforts or self-initiated through prospecting activities
  • Participate in targeted networking events such as regional industry meetings
  • Develop a strong understanding of clients' organizational structures, decision making process and build relationships throughout scientific and executive levels
  • Uncover relevant Discovery & Translational Sciences opportunities and become the focal point for providing Inotiv's collective solutions and expertise
  • Develop and provide proposals, and supportive documentation to facilitate contract awards
  • Coordinate internal project teams to support client requests and anticipated needs
  • Lead and participate in customer support efforts to build strong customer loyalty
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information to effectively communicate territory business development activities, opportunity status, and achievements. Timely updates into Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application.
  • Provide market data, competitive intelligence, and other such information to assist Inotiv's continual improvement efforts and planning
  • Participate in all required sales and technical training
  • Assist with on-boarding new clients (CDA/MSA/CRR) as well as on-boarding new projects
  • Make recommendations internally for new processes and services to solve unmet needs and/or improve our client's experience
  • ~25% travel depending on geographic location
