About The Position

The Director of Business Banking is responsible for leading and executing KeyPoint Credit Union’s strategy to grow business deposits, expand business member relationships, and strengthen the organization’s presence in the small business market. This role serves as a key driver of enterprise growth by developing targeted strategies that attract, retain, and deepen relationships with business members across branches, digital channels, and relationship management teams. Reporting to the Chief Retail Officer, the Director will champion business deposit growth, lead coordinated acquisition initiatives, and partner closely with Marketing, Digital, Product, and Branch leadership to deliver integrated campaigns, promotions, and solutions that drive measurable results. This position plays a central role in positioning KeyPoint as the primary financial partner for small businesses within its market footprint. The Director of Business Banking is both a strategic leader and hands-on operator responsible for building and leading a high-performing team, expanding community and industry relationships, and ensuring KeyPoint continues to meet the evolving financial needs of business members through relevant products, services, and delivery channels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in business banking, small business lending, or commercial banking.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing business banking teams.
  • Strong experience developing deposit growth strategies and driving business relationship acquisition.
  • Demonstrated success in sales leadership, business development, and market expansion.
  • Experience collaborating with marketing teams on campaigns and promotions.
  • Strong understanding of treasury management services, business digital banking tools, and payments solutions.
  • Knowledge of business credit, financial analysis, and risk management principles.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, performance-driven financial services environments.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with community and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and enterprise business systems.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
  • Local candidates in the San Jose / Silicon Valley / SF Bay Area preferred; remote candidates will not be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the enterprise strategy to grow business deposits, memberships, and product adoption.
  • Establish annual and long-term business banking growth plans aligned with organizational strategic priorities.
  • Define performance metrics, targets, and dashboards to track deposit growth, acquisition, retention, and profitability.
  • Identify priority business segments, industries, and geographic opportunities to support expansion.
  • Drive adoption of treasury management and digital business services that deepen business relationships.
  • Partner closely with Marketing to design and execute targeted promotions, campaigns, and lead-generation strategies focused on business acquisition and deposit growth.
  • Provide market insights to inform messaging, positioning, and segmentation strategies.
  • Support development of business-focused brand awareness initiatives and community engagement programs.
  • Monitor campaign effectiveness, conversion metrics, and return on investment.
  • Work closely with Branch Leadership to align sales behaviors, referral programs, and business development efforts.
  • Partner with Digital Banking teams to strengthen onboarding, product access, and adoption for business members.
  • Ensure a coordinated strategy across physical and digital channels to improve acquisition, experience, and retention.
  • Collaborate with Contact Center, Payments, IT, Data Analytics, and Member Support teams to enhance the business member journey.
  • Develop and strengthen internal referral networks with Commercial, SBA, Mortgage, Consumer Lending, Wealth Management, and specialty programs.
  • Continuously monitor market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging needs within the small business segment.
  • Identify gaps in KeyPoint’s business banking product suite and recommend enhancements or new solutions.
  • Partner with Product, Digital, and Payments teams to develop relevant, competitive business services.
  • Recommend industry-specific strategies and vertical solutions aligned with targeted business segments.
  • Build, lead, and scale the Business Banking function, including hiring, developing, and managing the Business Banking Manager and team.
  • Establish clear expectations, performance standards, and accountability measures.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and development opportunities to support growth and retention.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on results, collaboration, and member experience.
  • Represent KeyPoint within the local business community to strengthen brand presence and generate new relationships.
  • Build and maintain relationships with centers of influence, trade organizations, and economic development groups.
  • Identify partnership, sponsorship, and educational opportunities that support business growth.
  • Ensure business credit quality, fraud exposure, and operational risk remain within established risk appetite.
  • Partner with Risk and Compliance teams to maintain sound policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Support audits, exams, and third-party reviews related to business banking activities.
  • Establish service standards that deliver a consistent, high-quality experience for business members.
  • Monitor key experience metrics including business NPS, onboarding satisfaction, and product adoption.
  • Lead initiatives that enhance ease of doing business with KeyPoint.
