About The Position

As a Director within the BCG Vantage team, part of the Consumer Practice, you will play a central role in shaping the strategic agenda for the CPG Sector, with a specific focus on the Next Generation Sales and Commercial Excellence topic. You will partner closely with the CPG Sector Leader and the Topic Leader in charge of Sales, support case and proposal teams globally, and lead a team of CPG experts. CPG Sector Leadership In your role as a senior CPG expert, you will be responsible for shaping and advancing the CPG sector agenda across all major segments. You will support the CPG Sector Leader through the development of internal initiatives, intellectual property, and content, and act as a trusted thought partner on strategic priorities. Sales & Commercial Excellence Topic Leadership You will provide deep functional expertise in Sales and Commercial Excellence and will serve as a content expert and advisor to topic leader and case teams, helping structure and solve complex client problems and ensuring the effective deployment of BCG Vantage capabilities across engagements. In this role, you will also drive commercialization efforts for the Sales & Commercial Excellence topic within the CPG sector. This includes collaborating with business leaders to support marketing initiatives, conferences, publications, and other go-to-market activities that build BCG’s market presence and impact. Sales & Commercial Excellence focuses on optimizing commercial performance and driving sustainable growth for clients. Key areas include, but are not limited to sales force effectiveness, customer engagement and omnichannel sales, go-to-market strategy, pricing and revenue optimization. Team Leadership and People Development As part of the role, you will build, deploy, and lead a team of CPG sector experts who provide high-value support to the business. You will be accountable for the team’s overall performance across key KPIs, including case impact and billability, quality of output, and content creation. You will play an active role in onboarding, training, and mentoring junior colleagues, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. As a Director, you will take ownership of the team’s long-term development, including career progression, skill building, and engagement. BCG’s Consumer Practice is one of the firm's largest industry practice areas and keeps growing continuously across all regions. BCG’s Consumer practice creates breakthrough innovations for clients in the three sectors: Consumer Goods, Retail, and Fashion & Luxury.

Requirements

  • 7+ years consulting experience in CPG required; candidates with consulting experience preferred
  • In lieu of consulting experience, 8+ years minimum industry experience required with sales experience preferred; 12-14+ years of industry experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree required (advanced degree preferred)
  • Specialization in relevant Consumer Product Goods
  • Fluency in English; other languages requested in certain locations
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to interact with and manage internal and external stakeholder while working in a global collaborative team environment
  • Leading problem solving and solutioning for clients and driving towards pragmatic solutions tailored to the business context
  • Leading development and commercialization of knowledge and assets e.g. tools, sector/topic materials, in Sales in consumer products based on different client contexts
  • Engaging and communicating with senior stakeholders, demonstrating expert presence and credibility
  • Leading projects in a highly effective manner, mobilizing team to deliver on business priorities and commercial impact
  • Acting as a highly effective coach and mentor, guiding team members to achieve goals efficiently and effectively
  • Working in an ever changing and complex environment, and comfortable with ambiguity and navigating a fast-paced environment
