The Director, Banking Chief Operating Officer (COO), will provide strategic, commercial, and operational support to the Banking team and the Head of Banking. The role will be within the Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Chief Operating Office (COO) and report to the COO, Banking Europe & Americas. The Business Director will be responsible for (i) all management briefings (ii) governance preparation (iii) work closely with regional and global teams to provide relevant insights into internal and external activities (iv) provide analysis as required by management team and (v) work closely with Finance on budgeting and workforce management. As our Director, Banking Chief Operating Officer you will: Support the Head of Banking, US in the day-to-day management of the Banking business in the US Play a lead role in reporting and tracking business performance and relevant management information Support the Head of Banking, US in the implementation of the CIB strategy as required for the various type of clients managed, driving achievement against targets for revenue generation, product alignment, customer satisfaction, and cost management Support cost management initiatives (levers to influence managed costs), capacity management (demand forecasting, impact assessments etc.,) Manage appropriate governance requirements for the Banking business in the US and wider Banking business Ensure effective and consistent application of business processes and technology are adopted by front line and operational teams Support the implementation of major change initiatives within Banking Develop and maintain ‘trusted advisor’ relationships with senior US CIB and regional stakeholders Collaborate with other areas of the CIB in the formulation and implementation of the overall strategy of HSBC in the US Proactively engaging with stakeholders across the Banking, COO, CIB, and infrastructure community in the US, and globally to ensure effective communication and escalation of risk and business issues Identify opportunities to increase effectiveness and provide constructive challenges to existing practices Support a professional, proactive, and performance-driven culture in CIB COO

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of HSBC structures, processes, and objectives across the Group
  • Industry expertise with a professional education background. A minimum of 8 years’ experience within global financial services with proven experience of working in dynamic teams
  • Strong thinking ability to anticipate a broad range of changes evaluate their impact on HSBC and financial services industry
  • Understanding of HSBC Group, CIB and products, and a strong network of contacts across all business areas
  • A role model of HSBC values and demonstrates a high level of personal integrity; ethical behavior always inspires trust
  • Ability to champion and drive major change initiatives that will have significant and lasting impact on HSBC
  • To drive outstanding individual and team performance to ensure delivery of objectives on a timely and efficient manner

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Banking, US in the day-to-day management of the Banking business in the US
