About The Position

The Director, Americas Tax Leader has responsibility for all direct tax matters in the US, Canada and LATAM. The Americas, and the US in particular, is a significant market for LSEG, with over 40% of the Group’s revenue earned in the region. This role forms a key part of the Tax Leadership Team for the group, reporting directly to the Head of Tax based in London. The role will inherit a high-performing, stable, team and presents an excellent opportunity for an established tax leader to take on a truly market-leading role in a complex multi-national environment at an exciting stage in LSEG’s growth journey. Execute LSEG’s global tax strategy across the Americas, ensuring deliverables align with objectives. Management, and development of a five-person team covering Federal, State and LATAM. Lead the provision of US tax advice to corporate transactions, restructurings, and M&A. This includes cash repatriation (e.g. dividends) and funding. Lead all aspects of outsourced US tax compliance and related filings, maintaining full adherence to federal and state regulations. Coordinate and deliver of US aspects of group tax reporting, including auditor relationship, with full support from team and external partners. LSEG reports under IFRS. Manage all relevant US tax technical positions, e.g. BEAT, CAMT, FDII, s163J and financing. Proactively identify emerging risks and opportunities across Federal and State Taxes and provide timely awareness of any developments that might impact the Group wide tax positions (tax rate and cash). Collaborate with the wider tax and corporate teams (e.g. Treasury, Legal) to deliver collective objectives Maintain and develop relationships with Business leaders in the US and beyond. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing clear commercial recommendations. Maintain relationships with respective tax authorities. Manage uncertain tax positions and deliver successful outcomes against tax audits. Prepare and maintain all appropriate documentation in support of positions taken, including for provision to statutory auditors.

Requirements

  • Extensive US tax experience, ideally in a complex multinational environment
  • Demonstrable experience in leading all aspects of end-to-end US tax matters (operations and advisory across Federal and State taxes) delivering against strategic objectives.
  • M&A experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in managing and developing teams.
  • Detailed, and outcome focused, with ability to own issues.
  • A teammate accustomed to managing multiple internal partners (tax and non-tax) with ability to influence.
  • Capable of prioritising multiple matters at once and working in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • JD degree and LLM in tax preferred; CPA certificate preferred or required without JD
