About The Position

Citi is seeking a Director - AI Risk Monitoring Lead, who possesses the technical depth and product intuition to manage the lifecycle risk of our AI solutions. This leader will report directly to the Responsible AI Lead in the Office of AI.
This leader will serve as the primary architect for the business design and implementation of Citi’s AI Command Center and AI Risk Guardrails. The AI Risk Monitoring Lead will operationalize the vision of the Responsible AI strategy, bringing a rigorous product management mindset to the capabilities needed to manage business risk in evolving Agentic AI and Multi-Agent Autonomous systems.
You will act as the authoritative First Line of Defense (1LOD) voice on business and application-level AI risk observability. This role will collaborate very closely with our Technology partners to expand the AI platform level observability to meet the business needs of 1LOD. You will be accountable for the roadmap and prioritization of features for the AI Command Center, working closely with business and functional area leads to translate complex risk policies into concrete, implementable guardrails and controls.

Requirements

• AI & Technical Depth: 7+ years of relevant experience with significant depth in AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Multi-Agent Systems. Deep understanding of LLMs, Agent orchestration, and the technical nuances of AI observability (tracing, evaluation frameworks). Proven ability to understand and define Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) within a large global banking environment.
• Product Management Mindset: Demonstrated experience in technical product management or platform engineering leadership. Proven ability to own a roadmap, prioritize features based on risk/value trade-offs, and drive execution in a matrixed environment, specifically with a focus on business-driven AI risk solutions.
• Risk & Governance Implementation: Experience in designing or implementing tooling for risk frameworks within a regulated industry. Ability to translate abstract risk policies (e.g., "fairness") into precise, actionable technical specifications and automated policy shields for real-time adherence checking.
• Operational Execution: Proven track record of building monitoring dashboards, command centers, or governance platforms that serve diverse stakeholder groups (Execs, Auditors, Developers). Experience designing and implementing robust business evaluations for AI models.
• Strategic Collaboration: Exceptional ability to partner with Engineering/Technology teams. You must be able to speak the language of developers to effectively advocate for necessary risk instrumentation and guardrails, and translate business risk requirements into implementable technical solutions.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related technical field required; Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• AI Command Center Product Leadership: Serve as the Product Manager for the firmwide AI Command Center. You will define the strategic roadmap and prioritize features that provide granular insights into the AI lifecycle. This includes oversight of the AI Initiative Tracker (from ideation to production), the Approval Tracker (consolidating 2LOD assessments), and AI Usage Governance tools. You will ensure the Command Center provides a real-time Risk Portfolio View, highlighting at-risk AI systems with root cause diagnostics and rapid resolution workflows. This will involve refining Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) relevant to a large global financial institution.
• Enhance AI Guardrails & Agentic Oversight: Lead the design of incremental robust business guardrails specifically tailored for Generative AI and emerging Multi-Agent Systems. You will define a standard methodology for automating Red Teaming (e.g., stress testing for fraud, misuse, and policy breach) for various business use cases. This includes designing business evaluations and guardrail definitions that directly translate into automated policy shields. As the 1LOD lead, you will collaborate closely with 2LOD and 3LOD on completeness of the Agentic AI oversight.
• Business AI Observability: Partner with our Technology team to implement the "business logic" of AI monitoring. You will define the requirements for Real-time Performance Alerts that monitor for specific business risks such as bias, fairness, and explainability. You will bridge the gap between technical metrics and business impact, ensuring that 1LOD leaders have the visibility needed to intervene automatically or manually when models deviate from approved parameters. This role will focus on how business evaluations of AI model outputs should be conducted and integrated into continuous monitoring processes.
