As Director, Accounting Operations, you will lead the functions that keep our organization running smoothly at scale; Accounts Payable, Travel & Expense, Inventory, and Payroll supporting approximately 10,000 associates nationwide. Reporting to the Vice President, Controller, this is a high‑impact leadership role in a complex, high‑volume environment. You’ll build on an established foundation to elevate processes, strengthen controls, and drive continuous improvement, automation, and scalability across accounting operations. Requirements

  • Strong Accounting Operations Leadership: A proven leader with experience overseeing high‑volume accounting operations such as AP, payroll, expenses, and inventory in a complex environment.
  • Scalability & Process Mindset: Demonstrated success improving processes, implementing automation, and building operating models that scale with business growth.
  • Systems & Technology Savvy: Hands‑on experience leveraging ERP and payroll systems to drive operational efficiency and control.
  • People Leader: Experience leading and developing managers and teams, with a focus on performance, engagement, and talent growth.
  • Control‑Oriented & Detail‑Driven: Strong understanding of internal controls, compliance, and risk management across accounting operations.
  • Collaborative Partner: Ability to work cross‑functionally and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead & Scale Accounting Operations: Own and lead Accounts Payable, Travel & Expense, Inventory, and Payroll functions across a nationwide organization, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant execution at scale.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Build on existing processes to enhance efficiency, consistency, service delivery, and internal controls while supporting a high‑volume operating environment.
  • Systems Ownership & Automation: Drive effective use and optimization of core financial systems, including Oracle (ERP) and Workday (Payroll, HRIS, Expenses), and identify automation opportunities that reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
  • Establish Metrics & Accountability: Define and refine KPIs, service levels, and performance expectations across teams; leverage dashboards and reporting to drive visibility and continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen Controls & Compliance: Ensure strong financial controls and risk management across all outbound financial operations, including payments, expenses, inventory transactions, and payroll processing.
  • Develop & Lead Teams: Lead, mentor, and develop managers and associates across accounting operations, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner Cross‑Functionally: Collaborate closely with Accounting, Finance, HR, IT, and Operations leaders to support end‑to‑end processes and ensure alignment as the business scales.
  • Support Audit & Governance: Partner with the VP, Controller and external auditors to support audits, respond to inquiries, and ensure audit‑ready operations across accounting functions.
