About The Position

Advocates is seeking a Direct Support Professional (Mentor/DSP/1:1 support staff) to support a fun, outgoing, and independent gentleman with a developmental disability. He and his family are looking for a Mentor to assist him with working on his goals both at home and in his community. Goals include: • Health and fitness/exercise - using the gym, swimming, fitness classes, walking, engaging in any exercise program or class especially running club with the YMCA • Communication and social skills - making community connections and friendships and meeting peers in the community while learning how to be socially appropriate and reciprocate in conversations • Independent living skills - grocery shopping, cooking, personal care tasks, ensuring a safe and clean environment • Safety in his environment and community - learning how to safely navigate his home surroundings and in the community due to limitations and general unawareness Seeking a DSP who is reliable, enthusiastic, creative, and active. If you are athletic or are a runner, this is a plus! Related experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. Please respond with resume or summary of experience. Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address. Hours and days of work Friday (9 AM - 4 PM). Start and end times can be flexible. Full-time opportunities may be available. Pay rate: $20 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16 per hour. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid email address.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance if required for the job assigned.

  • Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including sitting, standing, using hands to reach, walk, push, or lift up to 50 pounds.
