About The Position

Hands of Heartland is looking for compassionate and caring individuals to work with the people we support as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). We are hiring for multiple DSP positions in Lincoln, NE. What You’ll Do: Work directly with people with developmental disabilities assisting and supporting them with day to day living activities. Day Center DSP, you will support and assist individuals with planned group-based or individual-focused activities at the day center and in community settings. Residential DSP, you will support and assist individuals with activities in a home environment and in community settings including meal planning, grocery shopping, or household chores.   In-Home Support Professional as a DSP, you will support and assist individuals with their day to day living activities in a home environment and in community settings. This includes but is not limited to meal planning, grocery shopping, or household chores. You must display a strong sense of professionalism since you will be going into other people’s homes.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and car insurance.
  • Must be able to pass all background checks.
  • Experience not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, dressing, mobility, and meal preparation, based on the individual’s level of need.
  • Support the individual in developing and maintaining skills, which could include money management, household chores, self-advocacy, and communication. Based on individual's needs, goals, and support plan.
  • Implement goals and objectives from the individual’s person-centered support plan and document progress as required.
  • Monitor and promote the individual’s health and well-being while following safety protocols.
  • Encourage social interaction and community inclusion through meaningful activities and relationship building.
  • This position requires you to transport individuals in a motor vehicle.
