Eden Autism Services is now hiring Full-Time, and Part-Time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to provide support to adults in our group homes and day programs. Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is an advantage, but it’s not a requirement! We provide paid training and you will be working with others as a team. Eden offers a variety of schedules—our employees find this flexibility perfect for their busy lives! There will be 2 weeks of PAID TRAINING 8:00 am – 4:00 pm for the positions working in Adult Services. The Training covers many topics such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methods of teaching, Professional Crisis Management (PCM), CPR, and much more!! The Training is mandatory before you can start working in Program. Our group homes and supervised apartments are located in Mercer and Middlesex Counties. Our Residential Program offers a variety of Full-Time and Part-Time schedules including Weekend Day, Awake Overnights; “3-day-on / 3-day-off” rotating schedules, and more! Our Hiring Managers will review available schedules upon interview. Please note: Positions change periodically. Hours will be discussed. As a DSP for Eden, your primary responsibilities will include:

Requirements

  • 19 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license with record in good standing (5 points or less) + 3 years of driving experience
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including to:
  • Lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, stoop, and/or reach above shoulder level for extended periods of time.
  • Pass and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification, including implementation of all strategies and techniques.
  • Move or be moved freely and quickly to ensure the safety of students and participants at all times.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel
  • Comfortable using an Apple iPad for data collection

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is an advantage, but it’s not a requirement!

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the safety of those we support at all times.
  • Teaching individuals we support basic life skills, such as cooking, laundry and cleaning, and personal hygiene. You may work on employment skills and go out to work sites to support the participants.
  • Assisting with daily activities including shopping, leisure and recreational activities, and visits to the doctor.
  • Driving participants to and from our group homes and day centers, and around the community.
  • Tracking the growth of individuals as they learn new skills, and providing related information to supervisors.
  • Communicating with family members, colleagues, and supervisors, and completing required reports.
