About The Position

We are seeking a Full Time Personal Supports (DSP) to provide hands-on care to individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities providing assistance with personal hygiene, activities/ outings, social engagement, shopping, planning, cooking, and cleaning. Support a man in the Columbia area with activities at home and in the community. Help him work on independent living skills around the home (meals, cleaning up, laundry, etc.) and learning his new community. Build connections with neighbors and explore resources that are local. Staff should be patient, respectful, trustworthy, and able to encourage and participate in living a fun and fulfilling life. This position is: 32 hours/ week Sunday 6p-10 Monday 6p-10p Tuesday 6p-10p Wednesday 6p-10p Thursday 10a-10p Friday 6p-10p The schedule is subject to flexibility due to the needs of the individuals supported. Some lift and transfer may be required. Paid training, including CPR/First Aid, and opportunities to obtain Med Tech Certification! DSPs assist with creating opportunities for individuals to live full and productive lives by: Assisting with participation and exploration of the community Cultivating and expanding independent living skills Assisting with the development of meaningful and personal relationships Implementing strategies to achieve individuals’ personal goals.

Requirements

  • Staff should be patient, respectful, trustworthy, and able to encourage and participate in living a fun and fulfilling life
  • Eligible candidates must have a high school degree/GED and a current driver’s license with less than three points on the driving record
  • Some lift and transfer may be required
