As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), your daily responsibilities will focus on providing holistic, individualized support. A crucial component of this role involves providing essential hands-on caregiving and personal supports. Each day will present new opportunities to learn, grow, and make a lasting impact on the lives of those you support by maintaining a safe, stable, and supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED or be willing and able to successfully take and pass the TABE (Test of Basic Adult Education) test upon hire.
  • A Valid and Clean Driver's License is required to transport clients and perform job duties.
  • Demonstrated reliability and the ability to work 2nd and/or 3rd shifts and weekends as scheduled.
  • Empathy and Patience: These are essential qualities when providing caregiving and support to individuals who may face various communication or behavioral challenges.
  • Interpersonal Skills: A genuine passion for helping others and strong communication abilities to foster positive relationships with clients, families, and team members.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to encounter unique situations, think quickly, and adapt to changing needs.
  • Integrity: Maintaining the highest level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical conduct in all interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Hygiene and Personal Care: Providing hands-on caregiving assistance with crucial tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, always ensuring client dignity and comfort.
  • Daily Living Activities: Supporting clients in developing and maintaining skills related to independence, including meal preparation, medication administration (following required training), money management, and light household tasks.
  • Social Integration and Community Building: Facilitating and supervising community outings, social engagement, and recreational activities that encourage skill-building and a fulfilling life.
  • Goal Achievement: Helping clients set, monitor, and achieve personal, life, and behavioral goals outlined in their tailored care plans.
  • Collaboration and Documentation: Working closely with coworkers, family members, and clinical staff to develop and implement care plans, monitoring progress, and maintaining accurate, timely records of daily activities and notable observations.
