The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver Float provides direct care for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) within supported living homes in Eugene/Springfield. This is a full time, permanent position. Schedule for shifts subjected to change based on needs of programs, however schedules are given two weeks in advance This position requires a dependable candidate who is flexible in their schedule, works well independently, and has exceptional communication and decision-making skills. Float DSPs are adaptable and will have the necessary skill set to be able to work at multiple homes.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of DSP/Caregiving experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is required. Experience in Supported Living or in home care strongly preferred.
  • Must have valid driver's license & vehicle to travel between programs and provide transportation to clients
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (day/swing shift and weekend availability required)
  • Must be able and willing to learn different supports, from medical to behavioral
  • Have a passion to help others

  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to provide references
  • 18 years of age or older (required)
  • Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and training

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Supported Living or in home care strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enrich and support the lives of our residents in the supported living program while maintaining a safe and healthy environment
  • Provide companionship and personalized care with respect and dignity while encouraging independence and self-care.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
  • Prepare meals and snacks.
  • Perform housekeeping and laundry duties
  • Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.
  • Assist with transportation needs for community outings, appointments, and errands
  • Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalating challenging behaviors when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
