About The Position

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities! CCAR Industries is hiring a permanent, full-time (40 hour per week) Direct Support Personnel (DSPs) in our Residential Program. Schedule: 3 pm - Midnight on Sunday - Thursday OR Tuesday - Saturday, depending upon the employee's preference at the time of hire (Two days per week will be shortened with a later arrival time or earlier departure time to equal a total of 40 hours per week.)

Requirements

Must have a valid driver's license and be able to transport individuals during the day or in the evening
Must be able to provide proof of a GED or high school diploma
Must pass a criminal background check, as required by the Healthcare Worker Background Check Act (225 ILCS 46), and a DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect background check
Availability to work one shift during two out of three holiday seasons: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
Must successfully complete 120 hours of paid training, unless they are already DSP certified.
Must successfully obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certification

Responsibilities

The employee will assist a small group of 2 - 6 residents to help them in their agency-owned homes and in the community.
Common tasks may include helping with personal hygiene, house cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and going on community trips to restaurants and other locations in agency-provided vehicles.
The employee will provide companionship and emotional support to the residents.
The employee will identify and report any safety concerns in the home and will help keep the home clean and well-maintained.
The employee will actively seek and respond to input from the residents about their preferences and needs.
The employee will make brief, daily notes on each resident's progress.
