About The Position

Position Title: Direct Materials Buyer Specialist Mission/Purpose: Contribute to achieving Metalsa’s business objectives by providing support to the procurement process to ensure that direct materials are available in the quantity, form and timing required to support operational needs. Essential Functions and Key Accountabilities Pricing and Commercial Terms Negotiation Negotiate with impacted suppliers and update purchase orders and contracts in response to Engineering Changes. Operational Execution In conjunction with the Global Commodity Management Specialists, monitor progress of the implementation of Purchase Order and contract terms and conditions with suppliers. Conduct order follow-up activity as required, expediting delivery, arranging invoice payment and resolving discrepancies or escalations. Cost Reduction/ Quality Initiatives Support and monitor execution of cost reduction initiatives and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) improvement projects with suppliers and key operational stakeholders. Procurement Liaison for Critical Manufacturing Support Actively participate in internal meetings as Procurement representative to resolve issues related to Quality, Delivery, and Logistics. Serve as the primary point of contact with suppliers to follow up on identified quality and delivery problems to ensure resolution and recovery of related chargebacks. Supplier Performance and Relationship Management Manage supplier relationships and develop strategic partnerships with key suppliers. Hold suppliers accountable for high performance levels and drive continuous improvement Records and Confidentiality Document activity and retain historical files that are organized, accurate and accessible to designated Metalsa staff as needed, while maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality within Metalsa and with the supply base. Comply with the responsibilities and authorities of the Environmental and Quality Management System (see procedure P-GE-29 Resources Roles Responsibilities and Authority) Academic and Experience Industrial/ Systems/ Mechanical/Computer Engineering, International Commerce, Business or other relevant 4-year degree or 5 years of experience in procurement in manufacturing. 2-5 years of Procurement (Strategic Sourcing/ Purchasing/ Supply Chain) or equivalent related experience (global manufacturing preferred) 2-5 years of Procurement-related experience within the automotive industry (global manufacturing preferred)

Requirements

  • Industrial/ Systems/ Mechanical/Computer Engineering, International Commerce, Business or other relevant 4-year degree or 5 years of experience in procurement in manufacturing.
  • 2-5 years of Procurement (Strategic Sourcing/ Purchasing/ Supply Chain) or equivalent related experience (global manufacturing preferred)
  • 2-5 years of Procurement-related experience within the automotive industry (global manufacturing preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • ASCM Certification (preferred)
  • QAD, Oracle, SPX experience or systems equivalent to (preferred)
