Position Overview The Direct Marketing Manager is responsible for leading and developing our local canvassing program to generate qualified leads and appointments through door-to-door marketing efforts. This role combines strategic planning, team leadership, field execution, and performance management to drive measurable results. This individual will serve as a key member of the Marketing Leadership Team and play an integral role in shaping the region's go-to-market strategy.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience managing large teams in a performance-driven environment.
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and training experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Ability to master and confidently deliver scripted messaging in the field.
  • Experience managing multiple team leads and large canvassing or field marketing teams.
  • Strategic thinker with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of marketing communications, sales promotion, and advertising principles.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create and foster a high-performance culture within the canvassing team by modeling desired behaviors and best practices.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Team Leads and canvassers to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
  • Deliver world-class onboarding and ongoing training, including role-playing and in-field coaching.
  • Motivate and mentor team members through active field presence and leadership.
  • Develop and execute immediate, short-term, and long-term canvassing strategies for the Roanoke market.
  • Oversee all canvassing field activities, including scheduling, staffing, and supervision.
  • Actively manage new program launches through strategic staffing, planning, and execution.
  • Monitor and coach Team Leads to ensure compliance with procedures, scripts, and customer service standards.
  • Develop and train on advanced canvassing protocols to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Create and manage the annual canvassing budget focused on generating qualified leads and appointments.
  • Coordinate canvassing logistics including: Territory mapping Permit tracking Script and flyer maintenance Field lead organization
  • Verify and validate leads gathered during each shift using proximity tracking tools.
  • Track, analyze, and enter marketing performance data into internal systems.
  • Provide regular performance updates to the Vice President of Marketing.
  • Analyze program effectiveness and identify opportunities for optimization.
