About The Position

Want your sales work to make a real difference to the clinicians who care for our communities? As a Direct Account Manager, you’ll help physicians and other healthcare professionals secure the protection they need to practice with confidence—while you grow MIEC’s presence across our medical professional liability portfolio. You’ll build trusted relationships with solo physicians, medical groups, facilities, and acupuncturists, listen for what’s at stake in their practice, and translate complex coverage into clear, member-first recommendations. From first outreach through consultative discovery, proposal, binding, and onboarding, you’ll own the full sales cycle and collaborate with partners across MIEC to strengthen endorsed relationships, improve how we serve members, and advance our mission of vigorous protection and high value. LOCATION: This position can be remote, hybrid, or in-office at one of our MIEC offices located in California, Idaho, or Alaska. This position requires limited travel from time to time, including overnight stays. COMPENSATION Salary based on experience and location: The full salary range for this position including all locations is: $80,175 - $123,683. Here is the breakdown by location: San Francisco Bay Area and Hawaii: $92,762 to $123,683 All other locations: $80,175 to $106,900 MIEC offers competitive compensation, commensurate with experience and a comprehensive benefits package. Requirements

  • You’re a proactive relationship builder with experience in marketing and lead generation in the healthcare and/or professional liability space—comfortable prospecting, networking, and creating new opportunities in both digital and traditional environments.
  • You sell consultatively: ask great questions, listen for what matters, and turn needs into clear, compelling recommendations.
  • You’re organized and metrics-minded with prior experience using CRMs to manage workflow, pipeline activity and reporting.
  • You take initiative and work independently—prioritize effectively to consistently deliver on time-sensitive deadlines, spot patterns, solve problems, and bring structure to ambiguity.
  • Clear, persuasive communicator — strong writing skills and the ability to create polished materials and deliver confident presentations.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, is strongly preferred.
  • Property and Casualty insurance producers license required, or willingness and ability to obtain the same within the first three (3) months of employment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in sales, and/or business development in insurance or a related industry required.
  • Comfortable in a range of virtual environments and proficient with office software including Word, Excel, Power Point, Windows, Teams, Sharepoint, and CoPilot.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working within an insurance agency or brokerage environment, or professional liability insurance carrier preferred.
  • Experience in networking, and cultivating relationships preferred.
  • Experience managing sales pipeline and consistently meeting or exceeding production metrics (KPI’s), preferred.
  • Prior experience with customer relationship management software (HubSpot, Sales Force, Zoho, etc.), including sales/marketing automation tools, strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new business by prospecting, advising, and selling MIEC medical professional liability products across assigned healthcare segments.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and endorsed society partners, and represent MIEC at conferences, tradeshows, and industry events to expand awareness and generate leads. Serve as a primary point of contact, answering coverage questions and partnering with Member Services to support onboarding and retention.
  • Execute the full sales cycle—from outreach through quoting, binding, and onboarding—across inbound and outbound opportunities, using consultative selling to assess needs, educate on coverage, present proposals, and coordinate applications.
  • Prepare underwriting submissions, partnering with colleagues in Underwriting to support risk selection, pricing, and coverage decisions.
  • Partner cross-functionally to execute campaigns, improve sales workflows and CRM discipline, and monitor market/competitor trends to inform outreach and positioning.
