POSITION PURPOSE: The Plant Operations and Environment of Care Director ensures the maintenance of a safe, clean, healthy, and physical environment for patients, staff and guests in the standard consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Laurel Ridge Treatment Center. The Director is responsible to manage FTE’s and budgetary daily initiatives within that department. Responsibilities also include state, federal, local and Managed Care regulatory compliance for Fire and Life Safety Codes, building and engineering codes, maintenance and operations of HVAC equipment plumbing, electrical, carpentry and grounds maintenance. Strong management skills and the ability to communicate in verbal and written form, in a clear concise manner with staff and administrative personnel is required. JOB SUMMARY: This position directs and coordinates activities of this Director’s staff that will engage in repairs, maintenance and installation of plant equipment. This position assures the maintenance of building security, safety, grounds, and utilities are up to standard 24/7/365. This is accomplished through utilization of Shared Services Staff, cost effective labor, equipment and supplies. The Director’s role is one of fire marshal, plant safety manager, chief security officer and chairman of the Safety Committee. This position also exists to protect life and property of all persons on the hospital premises and to police the hospital grounds to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge in the following areas: (1) Maintenance practices (2) Departmental & personnel policies and procedures (3) Fire and safety code (4) JCAHO requirements (5) State and federal regulations as it relates to plant operations with broad knowledge of plant technology and engineering.
  • Skills in the operation of cleaning and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to plan, organize, and conduct maintenance processes in a timely manner
  • Compliance with Laurel Ridge safety and loss control policies
  • strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • College graduate; preferably with Facility Engineering Degree or work experience equivalent.
  • Valid Class C driver license; clean driving record.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years in general plant operation/engineering and building construction.
  • Supervisor experienced required.

  • As Safety Officer, develops, writes and implements plant operations program that is reported to Safety Committee.
