About The Position

Under the direction of the Dining Room Manager, the Dining Services Assistant supports meal service operations to ensure residents receive high-quality dining experiences. Responsibilities include meal service, dishwashing, cleaning, and general support for dietary operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Minimum six months of experience in food service, dietary, or kitchen operations in a hospital, institutional, or restaurant setting preferred.
  • Current Food Handlers Card required or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently or as part of a team to set up, serve, and assist with meal service for residents.
  • Provide after-meal services, including returning trays, clearing tables, and ensuring dining areas are clean and organized.
  • Operate and load dishwashing machines; hand wash items as needed.
  • Return clean dishes, utensils, and food service items to proper storage locations.
  • Clean and maintain work areas, including tables, cabinets, food preparation equipment, and storage areas.
  • Assist with storing food and supplies as directed.
  • Follow all safety, fire, infection control, and sanitation standards.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, sanitizing, polishing, and emptying trash.
  • Complete necessary documentation to meet regulatory and survey compliance standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain an environment that ensures resident privacy, dignity, and well-being.
  • Follow established procedures and programs related to: Safety: standard precautions, fire/disaster plans, and reporting unsafe conditions.

  • Quality Assurance: complying with all regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrate teamwork by cooperating with co-workers, communicating tactfully, and exercising appropriate judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Promote positive relationships with residents, families, guests, and team members.
  • Adhere to attendance, break, and overtime policies.
  • Complete required training, follow uniform and hygiene standards, and comply with departmental expectations.
  • Assist supervisors with special projects or operational needs as assigned.
