About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Digital Systems & Automation Intern to join our Pratt team in Mason, Ohio. This role focuses on optimizing critical data flow and software systems to drive efficiency in our pre-press and digital manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Industrial Engineering, Systems, and Computer Science principles, and will be tasked with applying these skills to solve real-world automation challenges. KEY INTERNSHIP PROJECT The primary project for this internship is a high-value initiative designed to significantly improve cross-functional data usage: Millwide Dashboard for Plant Schedulers: The intern will be responsible for working with Plant schedulers and our IT developers to implement a tool to enable plants to have total visibility of all digitally printed rolls (in inventory or on order) in the Millwide System.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Process Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A strong academic record demonstrating aptitude for analytical problem-solving and systems thinking.
  • Willingness to relocate to and work full-time in the Mason, Ohio office for the duration of the summer internship.
  • Demonstrated desire to learn, high teachability, and a positive attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship or project experience in a manufacturing or pre-press environment.
  • Familiarity with data translation, API integration, or other methods of connecting disparate software systems.
  • Experience with pre-press systems or manufacturing scheduling software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Digital Systems Automation: Working within and supporting current projects in the Cloudflow system, focusing on building customized software features for art management and automating data flow into pre-press and display systems.
  • Data Flow Analysis: Analyzing existing digital systems and data pathways to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for automation and optimization, focusing on system logic rather than solely physical packaging science.  Understand the operating end user to ensure that the solution will be used by individuals in the plant.
  • Software and Tool Utilization: Leveraging quick adaptation skills to utilize modern technology tools (including Gemini) to aid in project development and system analysis.
  • Sustaining System Integrity: Assisting the team with documentation, testing, and implementation of digital system changes and updates.
  • Facility Immersion: Participating in scheduled facility visits (e.g., Conyers, GA to view the digital printer, Hebron, KY to see the display machines) to gain a comprehensive understanding of how digital systems interact with physical manufacturing processes.
  • Individual will be required to travel to Atlanta, Georgia the week of July 27th to present on project findings, and have the opportunity to network with intern peers and Pratt Leadership.
