We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to guide our team of Digital Sales Business Development Managers and expand our market presence. Trane Technologies is seeking an accomplished leader to direct, develop, and inspire a team of Business Development Managers focused on the sale and expansion of our industry-leading Digital Service solutions. In this strategic role, you will provide mentorship and leadership for BDMs, set growth objectives, advocate for digital innovation, and ensure consistency in business development practices. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with extensive experience in technical sales management, a passion for innovative solutions, and a drive for superior customer outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in technical sales, business development, or building automation, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems, building controls, or facility operations.
  • Proven success in managing consultative sales teams and driving business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex sales cycles and multiple priorities for a cross-functional team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience selling controls, digital analytics, or SaaS-based building solutions.
  • Familiarity with Trane’s product portfolio, service agreements, controls platforms, and commercial contracting processes.
  • Experience in ROI modeling, value-based selling, and team-based sales strategies.
  • Knowledge of energy management, sustainability goals, and digital transformation initiatives in building operations.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive vision and connect customer challenges to digital solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of strategic business development plans for the BDM team, driving adoption of Trane’s Digital Service solutions across commercial, industrial, and institutional markets.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development for team members to elevate their performance and advance their careers.
  • Set ambitious yet achievable sales targets, KPIs, and growth objectives for the team; monitor progress, analyze results, and implement improvement plans as needed.
  • Support team in identifying and targeting key accounts, assisting with high-impact opportunities and major negotiations as required.
  • Guide team members in establishing and nurturing long-term relationships with key decision makers, influencers, and strategic partners.
  • Ensure the team is capable of performing consistent, high-quality demonstrations and presentations of Trane’s digital products—Trane Digital Service Agreements, BrainBox AI solutions, and Nuvolo’s Asset Management platform.
  • Facilitate close collaboration among BDMs, Regional Sales Teams, Fulfillment, Product Management, and the Sales Center of Excellence to ensure customer needs are met and solutions are delivered successfully.
  • Oversee analysis of market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback; drive team recommendations for innovation and improvement.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting on pipeline health, sales forecasts, revenue/profit projections, and other key metrics to senior management.
  • Lead by example as an advocate for Trane’s commitment to sustainability and climate innovation in all team and customer interactions.
