As a result, the majority of our staff are hybrid and work both from home and onsite. Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and Wednesday, Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The GBH Education Department's mission is to work with communities to research, develop, and distribute quality media-integrated resources to support the equitable learning and development of children and youth. We aim to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people through research-based programming, partnerships with educators, communities, and community-based organizations. In particular, we are guided by an equity compass and seek to respond to specific community needs, include communities in the development of media and educational initiatives, and represent diverse people and stories throughout. We serve educators and learners in both in-school (prek-12) and out-of-school (informal) learning settings, and are co-leads of PBS LearningMedia (pbslearningmedia.org), public media’s, free service of digital learning resources that is typically accessed by over a million users a month. JOB OVERVIEW Under the supervision of the Senior Editorial Manager, the Digital Education Production Specialist is responsible for providing production support across a range of K–12 digital learning projects in the GBH Education Department. The Digital Education Production Specialist will be trained in and utilize the organization's suite of digital tools and Content Management Systems (CMS). A key responsibility of this position will be to provide support to cross-functional project teams during periods of high-volume content development. Other responsibilities include contributing to project plan management to ensure that all requirements are met. This is not a video production position.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS) for websites and/or Learning Management Systems (LMS) in formal education contexts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), and Google Workspace applications.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Jira).
  • Strong general software and technical competencies and the capacity to rapidly learn new software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize based on dynamic conditions
  • A self-directed worker who is also comfortable asking for help when needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 1–3 years relevant experience in a coordinator capacity.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of web development fundamentals (e.g., HTML, CSS, Javascript).
  • Experience with basic graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop) and digital media editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere Rush/Pro, iMovie/Final Cut Pro).

Responsibilities

  • Creating records for and ingesting GBH-produced content into the PBS LearningMedia Content Management System and other databases, ensuring metadata accuracy and consistency.
  • Tracking and monitoring progress to ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget, and that all requirements are met.
  • Facilitating the production of new GBH interactive lessons and media-rich resources by authoring, editing, and/or performing quality assurance checks on interactive content using internal authoring tools.
  • Performing a variety of content tasks, including, but not limited to, helping to maintain and update project documents and templates, formatting teacher and student support materials, processing caption files, tagging and archiving media, and tracking requests for fixes to PBS LearningMedia resources.
