About The Position

The Digital Press Operator is responsible for the operation of a digital press; to produce and convert various raw materials into finished printed products. The Digital Press Operator is responsible for meeting customer requirements while conforming to company standards for quality and job parameters.

Requirements

  • Individual must be able to monitor processes, materials and equipment, as well as judge quality through inspection of characteristics.
  • Individual must be able to work independently with minimal guidance required. This implies good time management, planning/organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Individual must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people, maintaining flexibility, objectivity and a capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Participation and support of 5S initiatives and activities.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience in printing preferred.
  • High school diploma / GED / or equivalent preferred.
  • Individual should possess basic mathematical skills.
  • Individual should be familiar with word processing and other basic computer skills.
  • English language required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures productivity while minimizing waste and maximizing consumable life by monitoring the printing process, recognizing output problems, and implementing the appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintains machine stability and dependability by performing routine maintenance, on schedule and according to prescribed procedures, equipment specifications, and acquired knowledge of machine operations.
  • Monitors and inspects digitally printed products for print clarity, color accuracy, conformance to specifications using defined methods and equipment before releasing to internal and external customers.
  • Maximizes efficiencies of the press through proper handling of consumables and accurate machine setup according to procedure.
  • Ripping files submitted from the art department using digital print equipment.
  • Digitally manipulating color settings to meet expectations for color target.
  • Examines job orders to determine details such as quantities to be printed, production times, stock specifications and color strategy.
  • Monitors feeding and printing processes of digital press in order to maintain specified operating levels and to detect malfunctions; make any necessary adjustments.
  • Operates equipment at required speed to ensure proper alignment, and registration.
  • Loads, positions, and adjusts unprinted materials on holding fixtures or in equipment loading and feeding mechanisms.
  • Changes out and replaces various consumables. Calibrating the equipment by making measurements and adjustments to control output.
  • Removes printed materials from presses and transports them to storage or finishing areas.
  • Ensures the work conducted within the production area is performed in a safe and efficient manner. Any unsafe work conditions are addressed immediately.
  • Ensures adherence to all quality control processes and procedures and actively supports the company’s internal audit program.
  • Maintains daily time and materials usage reports by entering information into the computer print management system.
