About The Position

The Digital Metal Assembly Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining digitally integrated assembly equipment used in the marking and assembly of digital high-security cable seals. This role combines hands-on mechanical assembly with digital systems interaction, including cold welding operations, data entry, digital component setup, and final product packaging. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring product quality, traceability, and production efficiency in a technology-enabled assembly line.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or machine operation role, preferably in metal or mechanical assembly.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with digital interfaces, touchscreens, or production software.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and product specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
  • Basic math and measurement skills using calipers, micrometers, or gauges.
  • Willingness to adapt to new digital tools and processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating automated assembly systems.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems such as MES, barcode scanners, or electronic data capture.
  • Knowledge of marking and engraving systems (laser, dot-peen, or mechanical).
  • Forklift or pallet jack certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot both mechanical and software-based production issues.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor machines used in the marking and assembly of digital high-security cable seals.
  • Use digital control panels to input job data, confirm part counts, and verify machine performance.
  • Load and unload metal components and cable assemblies onto machinery according to production instructions.
  • Ensure accurate digital engraving/marking of serial numbers and other identifying information per product specifications.
  • Perform in-process quality checks using digital inspection systems or data capture tools.
  • Record production results, quality checks, and downtime data using MES (Manufacturing Execution System).
  • Follow setup sheets and work instructions to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of digital systems to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineering to report system errors or recommend interface improvements.
  • Work closely with team members and the manager to meet or exceed daily production targets.
  • Maintain safety standards, use required PPE and keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and digital transformation efforts within the assembly department.
