About The Position

Under general direction The Communications Digital Media Specialist creates, shoots, and edits social media content, promotional videos, PSAs, and documentary-style productions using a range of digital tools. Assists with the production of podcasts in county podcast studio. This role uses drone skills to capture footage for Tulsa County video segments and produces engaging digital content on a daily or weekly basis for social media audiences. Assists with media relations inquiries, coordinating news releases, news conferences, and other public facing duties.

Requirements

• Knowledge of video production, social media strategies, and public relations; departmental policies and procedures; Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Internet, Content Management software, and Google apps.
• Skill in strong written, verbal, and collaborative communication skills; creating engaging content and using multimedia tools.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities; work independently and collaboratively on digital media projects with Tulsa County offices and departments; plan, produce, and execute video content and social media campaigns to support departmental initiatives; communicate clearly in writing and verbally with teams, stakeholders, and the public; analyze data and feedback to improve content and audience engagement across Tulsa County channels; interpret instruction and adapt to challenges to deliver high quality media.
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associates of Arts (AA) Degree or related field, and over three years full-time paid employment in public relations, journalism, marketing, or relative field; or any equivalent combination of education or experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, of diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License possessed for at least 6 months
• Defensive driving with Tulsa County within 6 months of hired
• Remote Pilot Certificate or must be able to obtain certification within 6 months of hired

Responsibilities

• Produces and edits videos, including story development, scripting, filming, and proofing.
• Creates engaging content for Tulsa County social media and digital channels, and coordinates posting of content.
• Responds to media inquiries.
• Assists with new digital initiatives and other communications programs across multiple channels.
• Assists with the production inside county podcast studio.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
