About the position

City First Bank N.A. is a mission-driven Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) focused on transformative impact in underserved urban markets. The Digital Marketing and Communications Strategist will serve as a key strategic partner to the Chief Banking Officer, overseeing the development and execution of digital marketing, communications, and brand engagement strategies. This role aims to enhance brand visibility, support customer and community engagement, and align messaging with the Bank’s mission and growth priorities. It requires both creative and analytical strengths, along with coordination with internal and external stakeholders across both coasts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead multi-channel digital marketing campaigns (email, web, social, paid media) to support business and community development goals.
  • Define and implement brand identity standards across all platforms and ensure message consistency.
  • Optimize the Bank’s website, SEO/SEM efforts, and online user experience to drive engagement.
  • Craft compelling narratives that reflect City First Bank’s values, products, and impact across newsletters, social media, blogs, press releases, and executive communications.
  • Serve as liaison to media, PR agencies, and key partners to manage public relations and earned media.
  • Collaborate with leadership and community partners on thought leadership opportunities.
  • Work with teams in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles to align regional outreach with national marketing efforts.
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on communications best practices and market positioning.
  • Track and analyze campaign effectiveness and implement improvements using data-driven insights.
  • Ensure communications strategies reflect the Bank’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and community empowerment.
  • Support storytelling and visibility, working directly with L&D/HR teammates and CIO around community development investments, partnerships, and mission impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (advanced degree a plus).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in digital marketing and communications, preferably in financial services, nonprofits, or mission-aligned organizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of marketing and communications experience within banking/financial services industry.
  • Experience in website design, digital marketing, and social media.
  • Experience in data analysis.
  • Marketing Project Management experience.
