About The Position

The primary responsibility of the Digital Content Manager is to champion both brand-led storytelling and authentic content that inspires visitation and pride of place by developing and leading the content strategy for VisitLEX’s website, email, and social marketing initiatives. The position oversees content planning, creation, distribution, and digital community management. The position will collaborate with our agency of record (AOR), photographers, videographers, designers, and copywriters, to ensure brand and messaging consistency across all platforms.

  • Strong familiarity with the business applications of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, HTML 5 programming, Adobe CS and Content Management Systems (CMS) is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field with 5 years or more of relevant experience in content marketing, editing, social media or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • Frequently communicates with employees and customers in person, on the telephone, and on the computer.
  • Frequently remains in a sitting position at a desk.
  • Frequently uses the computer with fingers and hands.
  • Frequently works in a well-lit, tempered room.
  • Frequently drives motor vehicle to visit and call upon customers.
  • Frequently exposed to outside elements when traveling for business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute content marketing strategy in conjunction with the VP of Marketing and AOR.
  • Develop and execute social playbook to ensure brand consistency across all platforms.
  • Lead social media presence across all platforms for the organization (inclusive of Leisure, Local, and Meetings audiences, as well as Destination Stewardship efforts, FilmLEX and other VisitLEX initatives).
  • Plan, create, publish, and optimize content that supports tourism, hospitality, and destination goals.
  • Oversee and manage the content, layout and design for email marketing in conjunction with the Director of Communications.
  • Oversee and manage the content creation for the website – including collaborating with internal teams and the AOR to create new content, update guides, campaign landing pages, and press and accolades to create an optimized user experience.
  • Oversee community management of VisitLEX social channels including communicating with followers, responding to queries in a timely manner, monitoring customer reviews and sharing, engaging and amplifying partner content.
  • Review SEO reporting and recommendations from SEO partner and delegate any tasks accordingly, including the build-out of new pages.
  • Work with VP of Marketing and Director of Communications to maintain an annual communication roadmap.
  • Build and implement a monthly content calendar based on overall marketing strategy and communications roadmap.
  • Lead monthly content meetings with each department head to maximize content and ensure online brand consistency.
  • Build relationships with creators and partners to expand VisitLEX’s content network to ensure a consistent, high-quality visual library reflecting Lexington’s brand.
  • Oversee the VisitLEX digital asset library (digital asset management software and UGC platform), including organization, management, acquisition and distribution of image and video content.
  • Oversee and manage VisitLEX photography contracts and usage agreements.
  • Coordinate monthly photography and/or video needs with contract photographer and/or videographer.
  • Capture photography as needed.
  • Measure and report on the performance of the VisitLEX.com website, and social platforms, identifying any key insights and optimizations.
  • Support the development of foundational assets required for content.
  • Assist with providing content for any marketing collateral needs.
  • Monitor digital content trends, inclusive of emerging technologies, to capitalize on developments that will increase traffic and increase engagement.
  • Assist in the development of new and creative growth strategies.
  • Travel and attend events during non-business hours (evenings and weekends).
  • Seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Assist with identifying areas for improvement and making constructive changes.
  • Keep abreast of all changing policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed on industry and digital trends offering insights applicable to the role.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
