Amplify’s creative team comprises designers, artists, and storytellers who work across digital, print, environmental, interactive, and animation projects. They emphasize big ideas and meticulous execution, employing a hands-on, highly collaborative approach to product development and graphic design systems. Digital Artists at Amplify are responsible for crafting engaging and meaningful experiences for young learners and teachers, both within and outside the classroom. This role involves partnering with a diverse cross-functional product team, including designers, product owners, developers, and curriculum experts, to enhance and expand Amplify’s art content. This is a contract position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic arts, design, illustration, communications, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in illustration
  • Ability to draw by hand
  • Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite, with a focus on Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, AfterEffects and InDesign
  • Experience with creating rapid sketches and thumbnails for review and feedback
  • Experience with creating rich, high-fidelity vector art illustrations
  • Ability to follow style guides, and adapt to multiple illustration styles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superb visual and conceptual skills to solve problems and create novel solutions
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least three of the following areas: Figma Photo retouching and image creation in Photoshop Animation or motion graphics in AfterEffects Typography, graphic design, and print production in InDesign Icon design in Illustrator and/or Figma Photo research

Responsibilities

  • Create age-appropriate narrative art that brings the literacy curriculum to life through illustrated characters and storytelling
  • Collaborate closely with the art director or design lead to gather requirements for art specs, and produce illustrations from sketch to final vector art
  • Collaborate with interaction developers and UX designers
  • Follow established visual style guidelines, and be able to work across a variety of styles
  • Articulate concepts and creative solutions visually and verbally
  • Iterate on deliverables based on stakeholder and team feedback
  • Contribute to at least 3 of the following workflows, based on qualifications: asset production in Figma/Adobe suite, animation in AfterEffects, print layout design in InDesign, graphic design in Figma/Illustrator, iconography, photo research, photo retouching in Photoshop
