Overview As a Digital Apprenticeship Assessor, you are responsible for assessing apprentices against the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (KSBs) for our Data Technician (Level 3), Data Analyst (Level 4), Digital Support Technician (Level 3), and Machine Learning (Level 6) standards. You will ensure all assessment decisions are fair, valid, reliable, and fully compliant with regulatory standards and organisational policies. The role plays a vital part in the learner journey, providing the critical evaluation and feedback necessary to move apprentices through their program and toward successful completion. Accountabilities As a Digital Apprenticeship Assessor at Decoded, you are accountable for: — Assessment Delivery: Conducting high-quality assessments against digital standards, including projects, professional discussions, and observations. — Quality & Compliance: Maintaining accurate assessment records and ensuring total compliance with Assessment Organisation, DfE, and IQA guidelines. — Learner Readiness: Collaborating with Learner Support Coaching to determine when learners are prepared for formal assessment. — Inclusive Practice: Applying equality, diversity, and inclusion principles to ensure learner inclusion throughout the assessment process. — Professional Standards: Maintaining up-to-date occupational knowledge of data and AI tools to ensure assessments reflect current industry practice.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • 2+ years of experience assessing data or digital apprenticeship standards
  • Experience of using AI tools
  • Experience of using AI tools
  • Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, CAVA or equivalent)
  • Data-driven and proactive, using insights to inform strategy, measure impact, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Advanced Excel
  • SQL
  • BI tools such as Power BI and or Tableau
  • Python
  • Competent in the use of AI tools and AI Automation
  • Knowledge of GDPR and data governance
  • Fair, objective, and consistent

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality assessments of apprentices against the digital standards following the guidance of the Assessment Organisation.
  • Assess a range of evidence, including projects, professional discussions, and observations,including Mock professional discussions as required
  • Make accurate and timely assessment decisions
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to apprentices following the guidance of the assessment organisation
  • Work closely with the Learner Support Coaching team to determine when learners are ready for assessment
  • Liaise with the IQA team on sampling and validation of assessment decisions
  • Maintain accurate assessment records in accordance with IQA guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with Assessment Organisation / DFE requirements
  • Apply equality, diversity, and inclusion principles
  • Comply with safeguarding, Prevent duty, and data protection requirements
  • Ensure learner inclusion when conducting assessments
  • Apply current occupational knowledge of data and AI roles and tools
  • Understand the differences between Level 3, Level 4 and Level 6 standards
  • Maintain CPD in data and assessment practice
  • Communicate effectively with apprentices and colleagues
  • Participate in standardisation activities
