About The Position

The Lighthouse Works Technology Solutions team seeks an intern that has foundational knowledge of accessibility and digital content and is eager and ready to take the next steps in becoming a digital accessibility compliance auditor. In this role you will be trained on how Lighthouse Works audits digital content, as well as how to report findings to customers in a manner that is actionable for the purposes of remediation of content.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required. Some business classes, vocational/technical training preferred.
  • Basic understanding of client-side web technologies (HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS).
  • The ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail over an extended period of time.
  • The ability to comfortably complete repetitive tasks accurately.
  • Must pass a Florida Level II background check.
  • Ability to read and write in English.

  • Ability to learn quickly, solve problems, and make suggestions.

Responsibilities

  • Create audits that briefly summarize prospective customers’ current website accessibility.
  • Review prospective customers’ websites to assist with the creation of a scope of work.
  • Create audit proposals based on the results of the scoping process.
  • Perform thorough audits, including both automated and manual testing, using current accessibility standards like Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Perform audits at various levels including: full audits, report cards, punch lists, and re-tests.
  • Answer customers’ questions regarding audit results, offering guidance regarding potential solutions and best practices.
  • Compare similar products and create “report card” style reports briefly explaining the pros and cons of each product from an accessibility perspective.
  • Collaborate with other team members to make sure software we build (whether for internal or external use) is not only WCAG compliant but as accessible and usable as possible
  • Continuously stay up-to-date with the current version of digital accessibility standards and best practices including WCAG, Section 508, RGAA, etc.
  • Maintain an understanding of how accessibility standards translate into actionable recommendations and practical applications for customers.
  • Conduct usability testing and user acceptance testing, ensuring that content is easy to use while also adhering to accessibility standards.
  • Compile reports, including VPATs and Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
