About The Position

Assists in screening patients at nutritional risk. Under supervision, modifies daily menus in accordance with patient's diet prescription, implements nutrition care plan, and provides consultation to patient and family as directed. Documents patient's nutritional screening/assessment information.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, required.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.

Responsibilities

  • Answers telephones and relays information to kitchen staff concerning diet changes, meal changes, complaints, food allergies, or patient discharge.
  • Participates in food service tray-line production, and ensures patient meal tray accuracy.
  • Under dietitian's supervision, participates in training and orienting of new employees to the department, tray line, and diet office.
  • Screens patients admitted to assigned units to determine nutrition risk(s).
  • Obtains and evaluates dietary histories of individuals.
  • Identifies patients at high nutrition risk, and refers them to the dietitian, as appropriate.
  • Under dietitian's supervision, provides basic medical nutrition therapy to low risk patients.
  • Assists patients in completing special selective menus.
  • Assists dietitians in food service monitoring and planning.
