The Dietary Specialist is responsible for preparing meals and snacks for individuals living in Skill Creations, Inc. facilities, who have physical and/or intellectual disabilities and /or medical care needs. This includes following recipes, assembling, combining and cooking ingredients. Typically there are 15 individuals living in a facility and their diets may vary in particular ways due to allergies, medical conditions and difficulty swallowing or chewing. The Dietary Specialist is responsible for ensuring each individual receives food and beverages according to any special diet order, and in many cases will assist DSP staff with meal time direct client care. The Dietary Specialist must operate appliances and kitchen equipment, manage inventory and maintain a sanitary kitchen. Dietary Specialists are responsible for the day to day kitchen operations, working under the supervision of the Facility Director and the direction of a Registered Dietitian.
