About The Position

The Dietary Manager at Vista Specialty Hospital is responsible for preparing and serving food, ensuring proper food handling and safety techniques are followed. This role focuses on delivering appealing, properly temperature-controlled, and tasty food in accordance with established standards. The manager is also tasked with maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Key responsibilities include coordinating and assisting in the overall functions of the Food Service department, collaborating with the Registered Dietitian to provide adequate nutrition services for quality patient care, and working with the Director to ensure the daily operations of the dietary department are carried out. The position involves preparing, seasoning, and cooking food for facility patients, employees, visitors, and special functions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience cooking (4 years).
• Food Management Certificate required within 6 months of employment.
• Possess the basic understanding of modified diets.
• Three years in commercial or institutional food preparation, or two years’ experience in an assistant cook position, or an associate degree or equivalent in Culinary Arts.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves food using proper food handling and food safety techniques for patients, employees and special events, resulting in foods that taste good, are served at the proper temperature, and in an attractive manner in accordance with established standards.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment in accordance with established standards.
• Coordinates and assists in the overall functions of the Food Service department.
• Works with Registered Dietitian to ensure provision of adequate nutrition services for quality patient care.
• Coordinates with Director to ensure the daily operations of the dietary department are carried out.
• Prepares, seasons and cooks food for facility patients, employees, visitors, and for special functions.
