About The Position

Responsible for the coordination of nutrition and food services processes for the facility. Manages Client services in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and the facility's policies and procedures, working under the direction of a Registered Dietician.

Requirements

  • Completion of elementary education or otherwise show ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Three years experience in the food service industry
  • Current Certified Dietary Manager certificate in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Basic computer skills
  • Positive attitude toward the elderly and ill
  • Lifting: up to 50 pounds
  • Standing: 4 or more consecutive hours per shift
  • Walking: 4 or more consecutive hours per shift
  • Reaching: 4 or more consecutive hours per shift
  • Bending: 4 or more consecutive hours per shift
  • Grasping: 4 or more consecutive hours per shift
  • Hand Coordination: 4 or more consecutive hours per shift
  • Pushing & Pulling: 4 or more hours consecutive per shift
  • Ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures
  • Ability to remain calm under stress

Nice To Haves

  • Current certification as Food Protection Manager desirable

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update and interpret policies and procedures in accordance with regulations.
  • Manage Dietary employees: supervise, hire, train, schedule and evaluate. Ensure competency of all staff within the department.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in accordance with established Universal Precautions and sanitary, safety and infection prevention policies and procedures, making sure all required information is documented appropriately.
  • Assist in establishing budgets and managing finances of the department.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available for staff and client use.
  • Coordinate public, client, and intra and inter-departmental activities and relations.
  • Monitor and assess nutritional care of the client per regulations, making sure all required information is documented appropriately.
  • Develop and evaluate menus and recipes.
  • Support the facility in its endeavor to serve the public.
  • Promptly report all hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents and incidents to Administrator or designee.
  • Review and process diet changes and new diets received from Nursing and coordinate dietary services with other departments as necessary.
  • Standardize work methods and establish food service production to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Prepare for and attend all required meetings.
  • Address all dietary concerns.
  • Ensure resident, patient, visitor, and employee safety while performing all duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain Resident and Patient Confidentiality.
  • Know and comply with Resident's Rights.
  • Treat Residents, Patients, Visitors and Co-workers with kindness, dignity and respect at all times.
  • Attend and participate in orientation, training, mandatory education, in-services, staff meetings and education courses to further improve knowledge and skills, including Incident Command System training (ICS) for emergency preparedness.
  • Promote teamwork; encourage others to work to the best of their ability.
  • Have a positive attitude; be willing to accept change; follow facility rules, regulations and job assignments; accept suggestions well for work improvement; cooperate with other managers and administration and show respect at all times; speak well of company and job.
