About The Position

Come join our awesome team as a PRN Dietary Assistant at The Homestead at Montrose. The Homestead at Montrose AND Senior Community Meals are part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare subsidiary of the Volunteers of America parent organization. Hourly Pay: $17.82 - $20.38 per hour based on experience. Requirements

  • Friendly and enjoy working with the elderly.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures used for work assignments, instructions, recipe directions and diet order cards.
  • Numerical ability for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals.
  • Adequate strength, endurance and coordination to meet the strenuous physical demands of such responsibilities as preparing food items, carrying quantity foods, serving meals, handling soiled dishes, operating dietary equipment and cleaning assigned work areas.
  • Coordination and dexterity for preparing food and operating dietary equipment safely.
  • Ability to work in an area that is often very hot/cold.
  • Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in defined food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Director of Dietary, Management Team and/or Cook.
  • Understands and follows procedures related to all duties or special assignments as directed by the Director of Dietary, Management Team and/or Cook.
  • Attends required in-services and completes assigned online modules.
  • Follows reporting procedures for the following: Observed resident concerns. Supply and equipment needs. Damaged, unsafe, malfunctioning equipment. Conditions related to breeding insects, rodents or other vermin.
