Performs diversified tasks in the food service department including preparation of food items, tray line service, cafeteria, cashiering, and dish washing. Requirements

  • The Dietary Aide is an entry level position with no education or experience required.
  • The position requires good verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of safe food handling; and excellent customer service skills.
  • Frequent and prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching can be expected as well as maual dexterity and mobility with lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs required.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-5 years of food service work is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares food items according to departmental policies, planned menus, diet orders and standardized recipes within designated time frame.
  • Follow correct safe food handling practices for receiving, storage, preparation and service.
  • Serve, carves, slice, and proportions food according to portion control procedures.
  • Maintain production records and temperature records for food, refrigeration and dish machine.
  • Display and serve foods in an attractive manner in accordance with guidelines.
  • Perform cash handling transaction and records in accordance to policy and procedure.
  • Assist in food preparation for special functions, as directed.
  • Set up meal trays, food carts and/or dining rooms for patient/resident meals according to established policies and procedures.
  • Distribute and collect menus per department policy.
  • Deliver food carts, meal trays, snacks, nourishments, etc. to designated areas.
  • Complete daily/weekly cleaning of all areas and equipment in accordance with established guideline.
  • Perform duties in a cost effective manner.
  • Washes dishes, silverware, equipment and pots and pans as established in policies and procedures.
  • Puts away stock items upon receiving deliveries.
  • Participate/assist with departmental projects, as assigned.
  • Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Attend and participate in in-service training programs within the department and facility.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent patient/resident care information to assure patient/resident rights are protected.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of good will and positiveness throughout the department and facility. Maintain professional behavior.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
