About The Position

The Dietary Aide supports the nutritional needs of patients by assisting in the preparation, deliver, and clean-up of meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and patient care plans. Working under the supervision of the Dietary Manager, the aide ensures food is prepared and served in a clean, safe, and timely manner, tailored to the specific needs of surgical patients. This role also includes maintaining kitchen sanitation, stocking supplies, and collaborating with clinical staff to meet patient dietary requirements and preferences.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assists cooks with meal preparation, as directed
  • Takes food orders via telephone
  • Practices proper hand hygiene by washing hands before handling food or clean dishes and utensils, and after contact with any soiled items
  • Wrap silverware and filling condiment containers in the dining rooms
  • Operates dish machine and washes dishes, utensils, trays, pots, pans, and equipment; cleans and sanitizes dish room and food delivery equipment in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Verifies meal requests for accuracy, before leaving the kitchen and when delivering patient and guest meals
  • Helps prepare, portion, wrap, cover, date mark, label and refrigerate food for meal(s) assigned
  • Sets up trays and serving carts according to established procedures, delivers to all areas of the facility and notifies staff. Helps clear trays from rooms and scrapes waste into trash cans
  • Uses food preparation equipment properly, cleans and stores appropriately, and reports repairs if needed
  • Records dish machine, refrigerator, freezer, sanitizing solution and food temperatures daily
  • Performs thorough end-of-shift cleaning in the dishwashing area, including the pot and pan station, floors, floor mats, and drains. Ensures all sinks are emptied and cleaned, and countertops are properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Helps stock supply shelves in storage area and assists with putting away food supplies when deliveries arrive
  • Maintains exemplary customer service principles for efficient food preparation and delivery
  • Maintains compliance with all state and federal regulations, including those related to bloodborne pathogens, infection control, hazardous materials, fire safety, and patient rights
  • Reports any evidence of pests or rodents in kitchen area to Dietary Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned
