About The Position

The primary purpose of the Dietary Aide position is to assist the Dietary Department in providing quality food service to residents. Assignments are based on the needs and activity level of each shift. The Dietary Aide reports directly to the Cook and/or Dietary Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must obtain and maintain a Food Handler’s Certificate
  • Ability to read technical procedures
  • Ability to read and follow recipes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with managers and coworkers
  • Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems
  • Ability to follow written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
  • Frequent standing and walking
  • Occasional sitting
  • Frequent reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception with ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

  • Learn and follow food service routines within a short period of time
  • Set up meal trays accurately and timely
  • Strip and clean returned trays; wash dishes and utensils
  • Assist with serving meals to residents
  • Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of dishwashing machine at the beginning of the shift
  • Monitor water temperatures during dishwashing cycles
  • Operate and maintain the dishwasher
  • Prepare nourishments and snacks as assigned
  • Sweep, mop, and maintain kitchen floors
  • Clean work surfaces, equipment, and refrigerators
  • Remove trash and garbage according to facility procedures
  • Store groceries in a safe, orderly, and sanitary manner
  • Leave kitchen and work areas clean and sanitary at the end of each shift
  • Assist the Cook or Dietary Supervisor as needed
  • Participate in orientation and ongoing dietary training programs
  • Work cooperatively and harmoniously with personnel in all departments
