About The Position

The Great Basin College Career and Technical Education Department seeks a broadly trained Diesel Technology expert to complement its existing program. This position will be responsible for teaching all aspects of this program. This position will be based in Elko, Nevada and has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a certified Diesel trade school is minimum
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in diesel, mining related equipment repair & maintenance

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • ASE Master Certified as Medium/Heavy Truck Technician preferred.
  • Teaching experience in a community college or technical field is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach all aspects of heavy equipment repair and maintenance
  • Participate in diesel advisory board meetings
  • May be required to teach evening or distance education classes
  • Use online learning management to deliver course content and assessments
  • Participate in Faculty Senate and college committees as assigned
  • Advise students in Career and Technical Education programs
  • Develop and update curriculum to keep Diesel program current
  • Attend professional development training
  • Travel within the state as necessary, with or without accommodations under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee’s spouse or domestic partner.
