About The Position

The Truck Shop Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on tractors, trailers, heavy equipment, and other motorized vehicles. This role supports fleet reliability through planned maintenance, annual inspections, and on-site (road call) service as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and solve practical problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Class A CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform planned maintenance (PMs) and annual inspections on tractors, trailers, and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, power generation equipment, agricultural machinery, forklifts, skid steers, and on-highway tractors.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, lighting, brake, suspension, chassis, hydraulic, fuel injection, satellite tracking, and engine control systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools, gauges, and computer software to assess mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Dismantle, rebuild, and repair components to manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform welding and fabricate parts as needed.
  • Use computer systems to access service information and download data from onboard equipment.
  • Respond to roadside and remote repair calls by operating a company service truck.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean driving record; operate company vehicles as required.
  • Provide own hand tools (up to ½” drive).
