JOB SUMMARY: The Mechanic is responsible for proper inspection, maintenance, and repair of all company vehicles to meet the maintenance department standards set in place by the maintenance Director. The Mechanic will complete all assignments given by the Service Supervisor or Foreman and be proactive in detecting and repairing the vehicles. MUST RESIDE IN TEXAS OR LOUISIANA AT TIME OF APPLICATION AND HIRE IN Must submit CURRENT and DETAILED RESUME at time of application. Must include current address at time of application. Must have a valid Driver's License and Social Security Card. After the first 6 months of training, you will have after-hour on call responsibilities for 1 - 2 nights per week and eventually a weekend rotation. We have nights and days available. Days: 6a-6p Nights: 6p-6a With optional overtime Friday-Sunday upon approval from our Director of Maintenance. Tech II: $26-$35 per hour Tech III: $36-$45 per hour Full benefits package the 1 st of the month after their 30 th day. 6 paid holidays and 1 week paid vacation per year. $1000.00 sign-on bonus. Paid training and $200 monthly tool allowance after their 90 th day. We also have a referral program put in place for mechanics who refer other mechanics. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Perform maintenance of company vehicles. Use hand tools and power tools for daily maintenance. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition. Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment. Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists. Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery. Test drive buses and other company vehicles to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly. Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices. Attach test instruments to equipment and read dials and gauges to diagnose malfunctions. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges. Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery such as pumps and compressors. 2. Complete required paperwork timely and accurately. Sign off on DVRs as repairs are completed or if not safety sensitive. Complete all DOT required paperwork concerning PM’s, repairs, etc. and turn it in at the end of the shift. 3. Follows all company policies and procedures. Familiarize oneself with the employee handbook and all company policies and procedures. Work when scheduled; call in according to policy when arriving late for work or when absent. Observe policies on break and lunch periods. Use work time appropriately. 4. Demonstrates a high level of effort and commitment to job assignments and company goals. Follow instructions, respond to management directions. Inform supervisor of any and all customer problems or significant issues. Work within the system in a resourceful manner to accomplish reasonable work goals; show flexibility in response to process change and adapt to and accommodate new methods and procedures. Assume new responsibilities as assigned. Show a willingness to be a part of a team and assume the role of team leader if asked.
