The Diesel Mechanic for buses is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered buses to ensure safe and reliable operation. This position involves performing routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, and repairing engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and other bus components. The Diesel Mechanic must follow all safety standards, manufacturer guidelines, and regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate maintenance records. In addition to repair and maintenance duties, the Diesel Mechanic works closely with transportation staff to identify vehicle issues and minimize downtime. This role may include responding to road calls, conducting vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and recommending repairs or replacements as needed. The position requires strong diagnostic skills, knowledge of diesel systems, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
