Diesel Mechanic II
About The Position
Tidewater Environmental Services, Inc. is hiring a Diesel Mechanic II to diagnose and perform preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance and repair on all equipment, including diesel trucks, Vac-Con trucks, drop boxes and high-pressure/high-volume wash pumps. Inspects air brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, etc. to ensure they are in proper operating condition. Diagnoses, troubleshoots and repairs electrical, hydraulic and compressed air systems. Performs welding and/or fabrication repairs as needed on equipment. Performs routine preventative maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery. Identifies warrantable repairs and documents on repair orders. Utilizes truck diagnostic technology to diagnose equipment failures. Performs road testing on vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and/or ensure equipment is working properly.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of five years’ experience as a diesel mechanic working with truck fleets, brake systems, electrical systems, hydraulics, and compressed air systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in welding and/or fabrication repairs
- Ability to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker endorsement, Class A CDL preferred
- Completion of OSHA 24-hour HAZWOPER training
- Ability to be certified in First Aid/CPR
- Must be available on an on-call basis on nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card from the Department of Homeland Security
- Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence in the English language

- Hiring Wage Range: $31.00 – $35.76 / hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
