About The Position

The Diesel Mechanic Youth Co-op position is designed to give students hands-on experience with inspecting, repairing, and maintaining powered mobile equipment. The co-op will assist experienced mechanics in repairing equipment, diagnosing faults, using testing tools, and performing routine maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world tasks in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.

Requirements

Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of the inner workings of mobile equipment, and mining equipment.
Basic math and communication skills

Age 16+ and enrolled in an accredited technical high school or technical high school program in auto mechanics, diesel mechanics, or related field
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer-sponsored visa (work permit).
Frequently required to: Stoop, crouch, kneel Use hands to finger, feel, and grasp
Occasionally required to Stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, climb, balance, and crawl Lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed

Responsibilities

Assists in the instillation, repair, and preventative maintenance for various equipment and vehicles
Apply techniques learned in school to scheduled maintenance and repair tasks.
Help repair equipment and replace defective parts under supervision.
Use testing equipment to diagnose mechanical issues and malfunctions.t
Perform cleaning, lubrication, and other necessary maintenance work.
Complete additional tasks as assigned by senior mechanics.
