About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Die Runner ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Die Runner will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. The general purpose of the Die Runner position is to gather die tooling, setup or breakdown extrusion dies, change dies at the press, work the caustic station, and sandblast cycled dies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear, use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls. Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body. The employee is regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. On occasion the incumbent may be required to sit, climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and the Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
  • Employees is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
  • Hearing protection is required.

Responsibilities

  • Use dispatch and die shop PC to get home locations for press tooling, gather dies/tools and set up for production by using the overhead crane.
  • Be present at press during die changes to switch dies out of press, breakdown dies/tooling that have ran orders completed at the press.
  • Will swap tooling in and out of die ovens by using the overhead crane.
  • Prepare dies to cycle through caustic, work caustic room by cycling tooling through caustic bath by using the overhead crane.
  • Sandblast dies to clean caustic residual off. This will be done by utilizing the upright blasting cabinet and the overhead crane.
  • Put dies and tooling home after it is no longer needed at the press. This will be done by utilizing the overhead crane.
  • Utilize the overhead crane to assist the press department.
  • Performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments
