About The Position

Basic Scope/Purpose: Knows how to operate and load dies. Replaces, repairs die parts to bring parts within required tolerance standards. Performs some set-ups and changeovers with development to more complex dies. Typically, involved in formal training or has equivalent experience in die repair.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Mechanical knowledge and skill required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with team.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.

Responsibilities

Reviews parts and/or stamped strip to trace and locate area causing problem tracing defect beyond the visual point down through the strip and the various tooling to the tool or area that is actually causing the problem.
Determines procedures necessary to correct the problem considering the overall effect of changing or replacing a particular tool on the remaining tooling.
May pull and replace tooling such as pierce punches, slot punches, guide pins, suration blocks, forming and closing stations, swaging stions, flattening stations, stamps, etc., measuring parts removed and new part to be able to shim tooling to specified dimensions.
Utilizes various inspection instruments to check tolerances parts such as comparators, micrometers, ring and plug gages and similar gages.
Sets up die, obtains die from die storage, removes present die from press and installs new die. Adjusts feed mechanism for size stock being utilized and proper die lead, changes de-reeler for type material, pancake, or spool. Places oil lines for die in proper location and when operation requires, attach milling or swaging devices.
As required and when die is in press ill make die change over to permit changing tooling to another part number.
May be involved in formal training program for development with committee review.
Follow safe work practices and keep the work area clean and organized.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
