Schedule: Sunday-Thursday Shift: 3rd 11:00pm-7:00am Job Summary: The Die Repair CNC-EDM technician plays a critical role in maintaining and restoring precision dies used in manufacturing processes. This position focuses on utilizing Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) techniques to repair, modify, and enhance tooling components to ensure optimal performance and longevity. The technician will work closely with engineering and production teams to diagnose issues, develop repair strategies, and execute precise machining operations. Attention to detail and a strong understanding of die construction and materials are essential to deliver high-quality repairs that meet stringent industry standards. Ultimately, this role ensures that manufacturing downtime is minimized and product quality is consistently maintained through expert die repair and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as necessary to complete logs or records.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Detail-oriented and consistent.
  • Works well as a productive member of a team.
  • Ability to properly maintain and perform basic repairs on equipment.
  • Basic ability in mathematics, reading, or writing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience operating CNC and EDM machines in a die repair or toolmaking environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of die construction and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in machining and tool repair.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or vocational training in CNC machining, EDM operation, or tool and die making.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming CNC and EDM equipment.
  • Familiarity with various die materials such as hardened steels and alloys.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment with tight quality controls.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC and EDM machinery to perform die repairs, modifications, and maintenance tasks.
  • Analyze damaged or worn dies to determine the appropriate repair methods and machining parameters.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to understand repair requirements and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of repair work, machine settings, and materials used for quality control purposes.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on CNC and EDM equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards throughout all repair and machining activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to die repair processes and equipment performance.
