About The Position

Build, repair, and optimize tooling that powers our production Join Worthington Enterprises in Chilton, WI as a toolmaker focused on die maintenance for our third-shift operations. You’ll combine precision machining with on-press troubleshooting to keep quality and throughput on track. Where and when you’ll work Location: 300+ employee union facility, Chilton, WI Shift: 10:00 pm – 6:00 am (third shift) Schedule: 8–10 hours per day; weekends as needed Training: first or second shift onboarding Role level: pay commensurate with skills/experience consistent with Maintenance Mechanic 4

Requirements

  • Hands-on skill with lathes, mills, and surface grinders
  • Blueprint reading, strong math, and in-process inspection to ±0.0005"
  • Ability to work independently and handle cross-functional responsibilities
  • Experience partnering with maintenance, electrical, engineering, quality, and production
  • Comfort with metric/English conversions
  • Experience identifying malfunctions and addressing out-of-tolerance conditions
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership presence
  • Communicate clearly at all levels
  • Problem-solving mindset with urgency and customer focus
  • Computer proficiency
  • 2–5 years as machinist, tool and die technician, or related (required)
  • Proven die maintenance (sharpening, repair, grinding, timing, modification) (required)
  • Ability to interpret complex drawings and fabricate parts (required)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Lift up to 35 lbs
  • Legal Background check required

  • Machinist certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follow all plant safety rules and procedures, including lockout/tagout
  • Build, repair, and maintain dies, fixtures, and machine tools
  • Set up equipment, troubleshoot issues, and make advanced adjustments to sustain quality production
  • Machine and replicate parts with or without prints
  • Participate in continuous improvement and automation projects
  • Keep work areas clean and organized; complete all required documentation
  • Support teammates and perform other duties as assigned
  • Act in alignment with our philosophy and all legal/ethical standards
  • Assist with tooling changeovers
  • Troubleshoot press startups and quality specifications
  • Participate in new-tool tryouts and validate sample quality
  • Operate multiple machines concurrently
  • Prioritize effectively
