About The Position

Skillforce is hiring experienced tooling professionals to support aluminum high pressure die casting operations on a project basis outside of Milwaukee, WI. This role focuses on restoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining large production dies to ensure consistent uptime and casting quality.

Requirements

• 5+ years hands on experience in aluminum HPDC die repair
• Strong understanding of die construction and large tonnage casting environments
• Solid TIG welding background on tool steel
• Ability to machine, fit, and hold tight tolerances
• Comfortable using precision measuring instruments

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting automotive programs preferred
• Ideal candidates have worked on high tonnage machines and understand both tooling function and the casting process from a production standpoint.

Responsibilities

• Tear down and rebuild HPDC dies for inspection and service
• Identify and correct issues such as heat checking, cracking, erosion, soldering, and wear
• Perform TIG welding repairs on H13 and similar tool steels
• Change out inserts, cores, slides, pins, and related components
• Maintain cooling circuits and verify proper flow
• Assist production in resolving casting defects tied to tooling performance
• Execute preventative maintenance and document repair history
• Operate manual machining equipment for fitting and precision adjustments
• Read and work from detailed prints and assembly drawings
