Dialysis Clinical Technician - Detroit North West Outer Drive - 40 Hours/Week
About The Position
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Dialysis Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to work in patient care and a passion for helping individuals with kidney disease. As a Clinical Dialysis Technician, you will play a vital role in providing dialysis treatments and ensuring the well-being of our patients. Location: 7800 W. Outer Drive, Suite 190 Detroit, MI 48235 DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: Detroit Northwest Dialysis Outer Drive is a 48-station unit operating three shifts, six days a week handling complex patients from ages 20-90 years. Many require assistance with mobility devices. Operating hours for patients are 5:00 am - 8:00 pm and team members 4:15 am to 8:00 pm. Employee schedules are made through several shift designs. Patients are medically managed by several Nephrologist and Advanced Practice Practitioners (APP). We have Registered Dietitians and Social Workers plus a Social Worker Tech that helps with concrete patient needs such as transportation and dietary needs. Unit staffing includes a Nurse Manager, 2 FT Nursing Supervisors, many Registered Nurses and Dialysis Clinical Technicians. We have additional support staff of Biomed Techs and Dialysis Assistants overseen by a technical leader.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a dialysis technician training program preferred.
- Certification as a Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) required within 18-months of employment.
Responsibilities
- Perform dialysis treatments according to prescribed protocols and physician orders.
- Monitor patients during dialysis treatment, assessing vital signs and responding to any changes in condition.
- Set up and operate dialysis machines, including performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting issues as needed.
- Administer medications and intravenous fluids as prescribed by the physician.
- Educate patients and their families about dialysis procedures, dietary restrictions, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records, including documenting treatment activities and patient progress.
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards in the dialysis unit.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
